BRECK FIGHT BACK FROM TWO DOWN

BRECK FIGHT BACK FROM TWO DOWN

LOWER BRECK27 Sep - 15:02

And Remain Unbeaten At Home...

A 2-2 draw at home to Irlam last night in a game we found ourselves two goals down in.

Started the game very well and for the first 25 minutes we could have little complaints, playing on the front foot and carving our chances, Jesse Dowling having the best of them, but against the run of play Irlam took the lead as they countered us from a over hit cross, they was quickest to react and once they reached our box it was a tidy finish from the number ten.

We huffed and puffed for the remainder of the half, with the cutting edge gone from our game.

HT 0-1

After a brief positive start to the second half, Lewis Buckley found himself dispossessed inside the Irlam half, and we are hit on the break, and we were duly punished also, two nil Irlam.

It could and should have been three nil when they got in too easy down the right hand side and with the cut back finding a free man 12 yards out, he blazed the opportunity over the bar.

A few tweeks to personal had a desired effect and we started to build some moment pushing Irlam back, and with half an hour remaining we got back into the game.

Some neat interplay just outside the box, seen the returning Jesse Dowling put through on goal, and he made no mistake with his finish, 2-1 game on.

It was all Breck and the chances were coming with Lewis Buckley winning his individual battle to put himself through on goal, but his shot was saved by the feet of the keeper before Leo Riley’s third man running seen him bare down on goal, but he has seen his shot thwarted similar to Bucko’s.

We kept pushing, and that persistence paid off when after the third corner on the spin the ball fell to Leo Riley who after scuffing his first attempt, the ball getting stuck under his feet, it gave him the perfect opportunity to let his second touch go, and it hit the back of the net.
There looked to be only one winner going into the last ten minutes, and it was only bodies on the line from Irlam that kept the scoreline level at the final whistle.

FT 2-2

A good fight back from the lads after giving away two soft goals on the night, but again the character shown was pleasing and once again we created a load of chances, and you have to keep taking the positives from that and accept the point as a good one also against a inform and good Irlam side.

The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Frazer Cookson who was as solid yet again again and pipped his CB partner Tom Mitchell to the vote…

Horrible weather last night at the Anny and we have to thank all those who braved them conditions with the wind and rain not relenting for the whole game, fantastic support once again ans helping us to maintain our unbeaten start to the season at home.

We’re back on the road tomorrow and it’s another tough one as we travel to Glossop for another big away day, we hope you can join us.
We Go Aagin.
