Great Crowd And Great Result...

A very good performance yesterday, bouncing straight back from Thursday night beating AFC Liverpool 2-1 in horrendous weather conditions.

The first half we were first class throughout, playing some lovely football at times with only the occasional counter troubling us.
Just as it looked like we werent going to get any reward for our performance in the first half we sent a ball forward via Theo and after the ball broke to Lewis Buckley he battled for it and got an important touch to settle himself before smashing it home.

HT 1-0

Second half we started well but as the weather worsened in what should have been in are favour we let AFC have a strong five minutes, and they equalised from a corner, the cross not being dealt with at the first contact and the ball was twisted and turned on via the number nine who slotted home, a soft goal to concede.

The goal woke us up, and we started to look dangerous going forward, but we could also see the fatigue setting in for one or two lads, just as we were about to ring the changes up stepped debutant Elliot Hughes to get what proved to be the winner.

After Tom Croughan broke with the ball a deflected pass fell into Elliot’s path, and he drove the ball into the box and after a couple of cut backs / chops he let a shot go, and it beat the keeper on his near post.

Instantly we made three substitutions and while it had a massive effect we was sloppy in the final third when we could have killed the game right off and we also left one or too many gaps for my liking, but we got the job done and grabbed a much deserved three points.

FT 2-1

Always a tough game following on from the Thursday night games and especially following a defeat and a rare home one of that, but lads bounced straight back and especially in the first half looked composed and a threat with the football.

The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to debutant Elliot Hughes, we said in the build up give him the ball, and he can make things happen, and he did just that, a tough game for your first one back at this level in a long time but once he gets his fitness up he will be an absolute handful for any side.

A crowd of over 320 for a Saturday afternoon is first class and for those who braved them crazy Anny Sports weather conditions we thank you all.

It’s our third game in six days when we travel to West Didsbury on Tuesday night, no doubt another tough away day in store, we hope you can join us.

We Go Again.
