An excellent first half performance helped us to a 4-2 win last night against Burscough.
A dominant opening ten minutes with the ball was undone by a poor headed clearance not long after and Burscough got the game's opening goal totally against the run of play.
That disappointment was short-lived when a freekick was awarded for a foul on Tom Croughan from 25 yards out, up stepped Jesse Dowling, and he sent home a dipping strike that landed low into the corner of the net.
Five minutes later we have seen a cracking team goal with some neat ball play and movement from front to back and with Jesse Dowling starting the move from the left back position he ran on to a delightful ball from Jordan Barrow and his finish was just as good as the ball, a cracking goal.
It was all Breck and the running of Tom Croughan from the front was having the desired effect and on another day Tom gets a first half hat-trick for the chances he found himself on the end of.
HT 2-1
Second half we started a little slow but once again it was five minutes of quality that ended the game as a contest, and it was Tom Croughan who got nothing goals assisted by the highly impressive Dan Lowey.
The first one seen Lowey whip in a tremendous ball to the front post and Tom met it perfectly for a tidy finish, the second was another great ball from Lowey which the keeper let slip and Croughan was in hand to tap home.
Another soft goal to give away came from the penalty spot after Tom Mitchell played a blind ball back to Theo which was intercepted by the Burscough forward, A tug on the shirt from Frazer seen the penalty awarded, and it was 4-2.
There was never no chance of a fightback and was pushing for a fifth with Owen Collinge and Lewis Buckley having chances late on.
FT 4-2
Overall an excellent team performance with some of our best football played in a long time, the new addition’s to the squad having a massive effect on how we're moving the ball and despite the two soft goals given away we were dominant throughout.
The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM once again went to Dan Lowey who from left back produced two assists and could havw had a few more, defensively solid and with the ball at his feet…
Massive thanks to those in attendance your support as always was very much appreciated and was rewarded with some good football.
It’s much needed midweek off (will help me shift this man-flu) before we travel to Irlam next Saturday afternoon, we hope uou can join us.
We Go Again.
Up The Breck…
