A 3-1 defeat at Charnock Richard yesterday with a few too many below par performances.
Didn’t start the game at all well and that put Charnock straight on the front foot.
They got there first goal after a little bit of pinball in the box and after a few attempts one found the back of the net.
There second came from the penalty spot after Lewis Buckley lost the ball in the middle of the park and as the ball went in behind Danny McKenna his outstretched leg could only help to put in the Charnock winger who beat Paddy Wharton to the ball and the penalty was given and dispatched.
Last ten minutes of the half we gave a better account of ourselves and got one back from the penalty spot after some good football on the floor seen Tom Croughan put in and he was duly taken out, Bucko sent the keeper the wrong way with the pen.
HT 1-2
Second half we was slightly better but in the final third we wasn’t creating enough or picking the wrong final ball, a good save from the keeper prevented a certain goal when we had Charnock under a little bit of pressure and after hitting the post twice late on they got the killer goal in the 90th minute.
FT 1-3
Our first back to back defeats this season so questions will be asked but the issues have been clear for a few weeks now with some individual performances being way below the standard to win games of football at this level, yes midweek down to ten men was a excuse you can use but with eleven and playing like some did yesterday it’s pretty easy to see why we have dropped off in recent weeks.
Still third in the table but the early advantage we had gained is now gone, but with 27 games to go so there ain’t no panic, we just have to get back to the side from a few weeks ago who gave everything they had for each other on the pitch.
The McNamara’s Sports Bar MOM went to Dan Lowey who came on at half time and gave a very good account of himself in and out of possession.
As always massive thanks to those who travelled with us, your support during another tough week of travel never goes unnoticed and we thank you once again.
Back to back home games at the Anny starting next Thursday night as we welcome Longridge Town before Cheadle arrive on Saturday afternoon.
We hope you can join us.
We Go Again.
